Thanks to the technology developed for digitized maps, it's possible to calculate the distance and time needed to complete a trip. Furthermore, using algorithms based on local prices, the cost of the trip can be calculated. This makes taximeters obsolete.
Using this technology, Radar.Taxi presented a service at the Madrid Taxi Fair that allows users to locate taxis on a map via their phone or PC from a hotel reception or any other establishment. It can also be used for any other personal need.
Radar.TaxiIt protects the passenger by establishing a fixed price for the trip. The chosen taxi driver receives the trip details along with the agreed-upon price, and can also view the driver and vehicle information, as well as the estimated wait time. Furthermore, it enables phone contact between the passenger and driver from the outset, which also simplifies coordinating the retrieval of any forgotten belongings.
Unlike other apps on the market, this service is not involved in monetary transactions. Therefore, it neither uses nor requests customer data or credit card numbers; the taxi driver handles and manages payments. To ensure good service, an evaluation form is sent at the end of each trip, which filters out taxi drivers with poor ratings for this type of service.
“There’s no need to find a phone number or call any toll-free or local number. Simply browse the website, see the details of the nearest available vehicle, and even use filters to define your specific needs. Passenger capacity, or, in the case of women, that the driver be female for nighttime trips, are just some of the most requested filters. Languages are also important, as many users don’t speak the language in a foreign country,” explains the company, which currently operates in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Portuguese.
Radar.Taxi is not an app, it's a website that works better than an app.
